Director, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) USA Remote

Job Summary

We are looking for a Director of SRE who has expertise in SRE, DevOps, System Operations, and Security to join our remote team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and improving our existing SRE practices, ensuring that our systems are highly available, secure, and scalable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices in our infrastructure and software development process. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading a team of SRE engineers and defining team goals, roles, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

1. Lead a team of SRE engineers and define team goals, roles, and responsibilities
2. Establish best practices for SRE, DevOps, System Operations, and Security across our infrastructure and software development process
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to our systems and processes
4. Ensure that our systems are highly available, secure, and scalable
5. Monitor and analyze system performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to ensure that our systems meet our service level agreements (SLAs)
6. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and processes
7. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers and team members
8. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in SRE, DevOps, System Operations, and Security
9. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members
10. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts as necessary

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, System Operations, and Security
3. Experience leading and managing a team of SRE engineers
4. Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, and monitoring tools such as AWS, Terraform, Ansible, and Prometheus
5. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
6. Experience with security tools such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and penetration testing
7. Strong communication and collaboration skills
8. Ability to work independently and remotely
9. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

We are a software engineering product company. We hire people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to apply them to take on significant technical challenges. We may ask you to join an existing software engineering squad on a long-term project, join a PoC squad focused on solving a technical challenge such as integration of new IoT devices, join a system reliability squad focusing on reliable enterprise objectives, or work on a system testing squad focused on improving the quality of deployment, or other important project and product teams across the organization where you will be asked to focus on the customer and the goal. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started and as a software engineering manager, you guide the way for those under your charge. In your role, you will support the design, implementation, and delivery of key components of our software products and their adaptation as a custom deliverable, and in that regard share in the satisfaction of customers. You’ll be part of the team responsible for the delivery and deployment success of a domain of products and custom projects. You will work closely other cross-functional team members such as Product Management, Consulting, Technical Program Management, QA, Software Engineering Leadership, and Solution Management.
